According an article in The Nation (an English-language Thai newspaper), McDonald's has agreed to start serving a line of Thai-inspired menu items in the US.

Thailand's Export Promotion Department has "negotiated with the top management of McDonald’s in the US to add a Thai menu," according to department director-general Chantra Purnariksha. "Initially, the menu will be promoted in the western US, because of the large Asian populations there."

I can see them doing a more retarded version of the "chinese chicken salad" or whatever they have these days. It would be interesting if it actually catches on, Thai food being not the most popular of Asian cuisines.

I don't know where you live but Thai food IS one of the MOST popular asian cuisines here. There are 7 Thai restaurants in my little town and Thai on the menu at several other restaurants and pubs. The thought of going to McDonald's for Thai food is ridiculous.

This is just awful--a major franchise like that will completely take the Authenticity out of Thai Cooking! It's one of the most delicious and meticulous types of cuisine in the world. Leave it to the Thai's to cook Thai!
